The Department of Computer Science and Engineering joined the fleet of Sri Sai Ram Engineering College during the academic year 1998-99.The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, since its establishment, has been in constant pursuit of excellence. Our endeavor has been to produce the best computing technocrats to serve the growing needs of the country in the field of computing. Here we strive to produce world class professionals who can compete with the industry’s best brains. The Department is also having Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from the academic year 2011-2012.
The Department has spacious classrooms, well furnished Laboratories with good ventilation and lighting facilities and Department Library. All Laboratories are equipped with essential equipment to meet the requirements of the curriculum. It has a computing lab with 444 workstations and 6 servers with all the required software and peripherals as per curriculum. The department offers free high-speed Internet facility through 1GBPS & 512 Mbps (AIRTEL) RF, 1 GBPS (JIO) Leased Line Connectivity. Security for the systems is provided by Juniper SSG300 Firewall. The labs are equipped with four 90KVA UPS and 375KVA DG set as a standby. A Fortigate Firewall provides security for the system.
The department has bagged 204 University ranks including 2 University Gold Medals for securing 1st rank. On an average 90% of our students get placement on campus in leading companies like TCS, Infosys, IBM, HCL, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, L&T Infotech, iNautix etc.
The department conducts national level technical symposium SAI COMPFEST every year for students and organizes faculty development programs, guest lectures, seminars, workshops, industrial visits at regular intervals. The department library provides useful resources to students with books on 400 titles and 2082 volumes, 180 ejournals, 12 National journals, 2 magazines,375 CD’s, 200 Lab Manuals, Question banks and Project Reports
The department is an Institutional member of the Computer Society of India and also has a student chapter of CSI which regularly organizes various value added programs for the benefit of the students. Computer Network Lab was modernized under the scheme of MODROBs.
Milestones :The Department has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi for 5 years from 2012. Bagged 2 GOLD MEDALS.
The department has the privilege of getting funds up to 50 lakhs sponsored by various government organizations like AICTE, ISTE, IEDC,TNSCST etc. for various Staff Development Programmes , socially relevant Projects and MODROBs of high caliber.
The department has been a key player and a pivotal point in holding the prestigious membership of CSI student chapter (highest number of student participants in Tamilnadu).
